A friend of mine told me: 'Hey you should try 'The Rift Mmo' it's in beta~!
Well I just did that, started to download it on friday night while playing on my Ps2(yes Ps2).
And started to play kinda friday night after a nice dinner and 2 bottles of Soju.
It's very difficult to not compare it to W.o.w... Even if I would like not to, I think we all do compare new Mmos to the Blizzard's strongest one. The UI is pretty much similar, what I like is that you can fully customize it,pretty convenient.
You can chose between different classes to start with: ' Warrior, Cleric, Rogue and Mage' Then those classes splits in different branches. You can kinda make interesting hybrid classes with that system, so started leveling up my Melee healer. I knew that I wouldn't hit as hard as a warrior or heal as good as a 100% Healing spec guy, so what? My point wasn't to be perfect, just want to have fun while playing.
Of course all my friends who are in the beta picked different servers, go figure.
So I tagged along with 2 of my friends, a mage and a rogue. During the weekend, made it to level 19, fought with people closing a few rifts and did 1 dungeon. Those rift are fun, got some nice tentacles commin out of the sky spawning evil things to bash on. I saw some pretty big fights and happy that my pc can handle all that! Also that 1st dungeon well.... I was the main healer and I hadn't built it 100% healer so I couldn't really be fully efficient. A few deaths yes but I think people are all learning how to play the game and adapt to their hybrids classes.
On that note I'm not sure yet if I'll buy this game or not, it's fun yes. Do i want again to spend many hours in a Mmo? I'm not sure I want to do that again... To be continued :)
