Mother 3

I'm a big 'Earthbound' fan, like most ppl I have only played the one that made it to NA. I knew that the 3rd one 'Mother3' had been translated by fans I just never played it. So last weekend I got all 3 games. And started to player 'Mother3'.

I don't think you absolutely need to play the others before this one in order to enjoy it. And this game made me smile a few times to far. It's in 2D, so simple yet so enjoyable. It's light and funny, funky soundtrack and hippie looking battle backgrounds. The story also is a tad nuts and often dialogues make no sense (in a good way), but this is what makes this game so great. Nothing is very serious, it's meant to be fun and it is!

I'm maybe half way into the game right now and I enjoy it a lot! Something that I have found interesting is that 'combo system' they have. During fights, if you press the 'attack button' at the right time (following the music) you may trigger a combo (music notes will show up) and as long as you keep the rhythm, you can do quite a lot of damage hence finishing harsh fights quicker and with ease.

If you don't want spoilers don't read ahead... But playing this game I really got into it. I started to play expecting to play as one of the boys (like in the earthbound that was released in NA)... But I was surprised that you get to play as multiple characters so early in the game. And I really did feel bad when the boys lost their mother, I also felt bad for the poor Salsa!

I will keep playing, should finish it this week. I'm just scared that at the end, I will want more of Earthbound but as we know.... There won't be any.
