Tonight I saw '13 Assassins' at the Fantasia Festival, a movie directed by Takashi Miike (Ichi the killer and Audition). I love samurai movies and I can say that this one is no exception~!
This movie started with a quite long ‘hara-kiri’…. Was a tad rough to watch but it was a glimpse of what was to come. The film is not super gory as some other samurai movies but it still did rain some blood. It really reflected the period where the samurai started to fade away with the end of the shogun. I always like the movies about that era. Sure it’s a movie you can rent (it’s a 2010 one) but the Fantasia crowd is what makes it special aye?
A very good rental for a samurai movie craving!
