My 'This weekend games'

Weekends are short you'd agree huh? So what games to play? There are so many! I just cannot play them all at once... Would if I could!

Was talking about 'drop rates' with my design partner this week, about how permissive are we with them in our game. Also has to do with the target audience, from 8 to 12 years old-ish. If you give them too little they will get bored and frustrated and will not play your game anymore. Be generous with your rewards, drops, goodies and they'll become spoiled and then be hard to please. Gotta have a good balance and be strategic about it.

My friend suggested I look at Torchlight, see how I get drops in there and how they do it. Not that it has the same target audience at all, but just to give an idea of pacing. I was actually hoping that Torchlight would come back to it's 5$ deal but seems like not. But 15$ is an 'ok' price for it.
As I logged into Steam I saw that there was a '1 day deal only' with L4D2 ( I had the 1st one but not that 2nd one) So, 7$ for L4D2! That's damn good, so I'm playing both Torchlight and LFD2 this weekend! Voila!

On that note, I'll go back to Torchlight. : )
