Montreal's Comiccon 2011

Last week we had the 'Montreal Comiccon 2011' happening. It's actually my 1st time hearing about a 'Comiccon' in Montreal, thought it was only in SF, appears some cities have their own. And apparently it's the 3rd year in Montreal but the previous years it wasn't this big.

This year they had pretty cool and epic guests such as THE Stan Lee and many others. But for me the only person I really wanted to see and take a picture with was him, I didn't care much about the rest. Sure I respect their work but Stan Lee is awesome.

This was my very first Comiccon, so overall I was pretty impressed with how many ppl did attend. I had good moments and not so happy moments in there... A sad thing was that lots of ppl came from everywhere within the province but some ppl came from far and the tickets at the door got sold out pretty fast, leaving fans outside. I could see families with all costumed kids in their favorites hero outfits and they could not even enter the Comiccon. It was a lil sad and not very well organized.

Once inside, it was packed crazy crowded, hordes and hordes of mostly nerd, geeks, fantasy and comic fans, I felt at home. But sadly, most volunteers were giving misdirections and some didn't know what to answer simple questions such as 'where is the nearest bathroom'. So I was a bit disappointed on that side. I got shown the wrong lineups two times and had to ask 3 volunteers to be able to find a bathroom.

About the Photo Ops... It was a very big mess.... They were all over the place, unorganized and they made ppl feel uncomfortable. The photograph was screaming at ppl and the poor girl printing the picture was ALONE with ONLY 2 Printers...... Yes, 2 Printers to print pictures for more than 10 000 ppl. So the crowd got angry fast, it wasn't really pretty. But that was not the Comiccon's fault neither the panels or the volonteers. It was the fault of that company who were taking care of pictures, I'll find the name and will post it later on.

Next year, the need a bigger place and more organization and all will be good. I have waited so much in line that I didn't see all i wanted to see.

I might go next year and maybe buy a pass....
