Welcome to Arstotzka~!
Having a strict budget, I'm always happy when Steam have some sales. I often pick up games under 10$. Often I just put games in my wish list and get them when the price is cheap. So I did pick up 'Papers please'.
You 'play' the role of an inspector at a border and well, you let people pass.....or not~! The 1st few minutes I've played I was a tad confused and I was all like 'what the heck am I playing?'
But then you get used to the UI and you know 'what goes where'. You make sure applicants all have the correct papers and eventually you get to take their fingerprints if you are unsure and even search them for possible weapons. I thought it was only a simple 'approved' and 'denied' thing but no, it goes deeper than that.
At some point I had a girl working in a 'restaurant', she gave me her escort card and said that there was a guy in line that would harm her and possibly kill her. So I did let the girl pass and then came THAT guy.... But the thing was that all of his papers were in order... he was all legit... so... do I let him pass knowing that something might happen to that chix? Or I just deny his entry? But if I do deny it, I lose part of my salary... But yeah, I'm a goodie goodie, so I refused to let him pass and I got money taken off my pay check. But then then thing I didn't understand is that the newspapers the next day was all about 'Stripper found dead'... So.... do decisions like that have no influence on the story at all? The girl would have died no matter what?
I was a tad disappointed I must admit.
I just started the game so I'm expecting more surprises at the border of Arstotzka :P
I'll keep playing for a bit~!
