FFIXV ARR: Finally able to play and enjoy this great game

Finally Square Enix got us rid of Error 1017, now you can actually login into the game without any problem if a small queue during busy hours.

So far I have a WHM 35 and a DRG 35 as well as a few 'discipline of the lands jobs' leveled.
I will start by saying again, damn this game is pretty, the details are amazing... Everywhere you go, I was amazed how much details every single dungeon room has. Everything that is animated is almost flawless, I think this is the 1st MMO I see that has 'facial emotes' done so well~! The game is also very funny for those who take the time to read the dialogs and quests lines (I know not many people do, most do skip through everything, your lost really!) I really like the 'Fate' battles, they are kind of similar to riftts in Rift(MMO). And even there a lot of humor was injected into the Fates' names, like 'The Big Bagoly Theory' or 'Breaking Bud'. It's like things like that that makes me smile.

The battle system is a mix of what was in 1.0, FFXI and a tad of Tera. You cannot always stand there and smash buttons, they made different enemy AoE that can makes a lot of damage if you don't move a tad and sometimes it can get bad, fast so you must really pay attention to the battle and the enemy's moves and/or spells. So far I though: 'Hey the hot bars are small compared to a lot of mmo'... But it's probably better that way, less abilities and spells although they do update (you replace Cure1 buy cure 2 etc). I'm also only level 35, that may change.

The first few dungeons are very straight forward and not much strategy is needed if only to stay out of AoE,avoid puddles of poison and defeat adds a.s.a.p... But I'd say as you get passed level 30 ones, they get a little trickier, they have not only stronger enemies but also they start to add puzzles, some of them are funny but very brutal and not permissive at all, just the way I like them!

A thing that bothers me a tad is the economy, of course the game just launched a bit ago, you must give it time... But everything you find out of treasure or mob drops are generally worth from 5 ro 15 gils (if you sell to a NPC) so I see that they really really wanted to push you to the markets boards (Auction house) to sell your stuff to other players instead of NPC. But the thing is, even questing and doing dungeons doesn't give you much money... Repairing your equipment by a NPC costs more and more, of course you can repair your stuff yourself but you must have the appropriate job for it(Weaver, leather worker, goldsmith) and to level these it takes time and money and... inventory space which is very very limited. So my solution to this was, hey! I'll just create a mule and it will hold all my mats and/or gather mats for my main character. The sad thing is, and that I don't get why..., there is no common inventory between your characters of the same account and in order to send ingame mail to someone, you must 'friend' them AND you cannot friend someone who is offline. So I cannot 'friend' my mule, I cannot send myself items at all... So now I'm stuck with a very full inventory, no space to craft and am totally broke. So if there is anything I don't see, please tell me!

Being stuck at home for a tad, FFXIV ARR is a way to keep me occupied and make sure I don't over think things too much.

  1. You can hire retainers, 2 of them for a lot more inventory space. They're the ones that sell on the market too. For Gil, doing leves gives a lot of it, so it's not that bad. Taking the gil rewards in quests pays a lot too.
