Back in the wastelands

I recently erased my saved game of Fallout 3 after borrowing Vegas from a co-worker. Yes I do know that they aren't really related and that I could totally play Vegas without having completed 100% of Fallout 3... But I haven't played Fallout 3 for a bit so I wanted to get back in the mood you know?!

So I was lunching with my geeky friends and told them I started a new fresh game and they asked, between 2 munches of sandwich, 'Did you let the ghouls into the tower?' I said: ' What tower?' So they replied: ' Oh so you did not visit it yet, you'll understand when you see it'. So last weekend I did tons of exploring so I can get 100% of the locations on the map, and there I arrived: Tenpenny Tower.

I really like stories in video games, maybe because I'm a girl maybe because I'm a nerd of maybe because of both of those reasons. So yes I've found those people living in that tower being pricks, but hey I guess it's a way to cope with the crap that's out there in the wastelands. But when they asked me to kill Roy and his ghouls.... I was like wait a minute, can we talk our way out of this? So I went to Roy, chatted with the ghouls, went back to the tower, chatted with Tenpenny then with the residents to convince them to let the ghouls live in the tower. Been there done that, ghouls moved in.

Then I went back later on to see if the stores would have something different to sell there now that the ghouls and humans live happily together.... Surprise, Roy killed Tenpenny and all the human residents... JERK! I had pity those ghouls, did all that chit chat and walks all to get them to live in that tower and they kill everyone... I felt bad, was kinda all my fault, if I had ignored that quest everyone would be alive.

I think that Fallout 3 is a great game and is good at making me feel bad, I mean not bad but to care about what's happening to the story and people in the game. How many games I have played where they failed at making me believe in the story and the characters? Too many times.
So yeah, Fallout 3 is good at making you care. Or maybe it's just me?
